Lady Bucs finish second at Eat-A-Peach Collegiate; Bensch earns All-Tournament honorsSeptember 24, 2012
MACON, GA. - Katelyn Bensch was named to the Eat-A-Peach All-Tournament team, finishing tied for fifth overall at the tournament hosted by Mercer University over the weekend as the Lady Buccaneers recorded their top finish of the young 2012 season, finishing second overall at the Pine Lakes Golf Course.
Bensch was among the tournament leaders all weekend, firing a 74-71 over the first two days before ending the three-day event with a final round 76 to wrap up the event. The senior from Greenville, S.C. carded an overall 221 on the tournament, finishing five-over par to tie for fifth overall among the field.
Buoyed by two of the lowest team rounds in Lady Bucs history, Charleston Southern finished four strokes behind tournament host and champion Mercer University as CSU finished the final round with a 303 to record an 895 over the three days. Mercer led all schools at the tournament with an 891 to win the team title.
Casey MacNeil finished with the low round of the final day for Charleston Southern on Monday, finishing with a 74, two-over to finish in a three-way tie for seventh overall at the tournament. The freshman from Massey, Ontario, Canada recorded a 78-72 over the first two rounds of play to finish with a 224 on the weekend.
Torey Johnson also continued a strong weekend in tying with MacNeil and Stetson’s Sammi Smith for seventh overall with a 224. Johnson recorded rounds of 72-75-77 for her best tournament of the 2012 season to date.
Vanessa Jay fired matching 76s across the board to finish 10th overall among the field. The Leighton Buzzard, England native finished the three rounds with a final score of 228, 12-over par for the tournament under head coach Matthew Cram-Smith.
Amanda D’Ostroph also took on the field for the Lady Bucs on the weekend, finishing tied for 16th overall with a three round total of 233, while Viktoria Enhager carded a 234, taking 20th overall while competing as an individual.
Charleston Southern returns to the links on October 15-16 as the Lady Bucs host the Wendy’s Classic at Rivertowne Country Club. Related Item: Box Score |
