Boise, Idaho – The Charleston Southern Buccaneers are 19-over par and in sole possession of eighth place through two fog-delayed rounds of the 2012 Boise State University Thomas Dash Memorial.
The Bucs, who shot a 298 in Monday’s first round, shaved 11 shots off their opening total with a 287 in the second round to stay in eighth place with a 587. CSU trails Weber State (585) by two shots and Boise State (584) by three heading into Tuesday morning’s final round.
The Bucs trail leader Washington State (561, -7) by 26 strokes, but are within striking distance of the top five, trailing fifth-place Utah State by six strokes.
The field includes 13 programs from both coats, including CSU and Winthrop from the Big South Conference. San Jose State and Washington State are also in the field.
Junior Ross Thomson remains tied for 15th after an even-par 71 in his second round. He followed his opening round 72 (+1) with one of two 71s for the Bucs and is at 1-over (143) for the tournament.
Sophomore Jarrett Swan is tied for 33rd after firing the Bucs’ second even round on Monday afternoon. Swan shot a 71 to climb 15 spots after a 147 (+5) for his two rounds.
C.J. Liner and Nicholas Baena again shot matching rounds, this time they carded 74s and are tied at 149 (+7). Both players are tied for 44th.
Junior Jason Fick is tied 59th and jumped 11 spots after a 73 (+2) in his second round.
Utah Valley’s Mason Casper leads by two strokes at 7-under through two rounds, ahead of Idaho’s Gordon Webb. Three golfers are at 4-under par.
Tuesday’s final round will begin with a 9 a.m. (MT), 11 a.m. (ET), shotgun start.
