CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Brian Sole belted a three-run homerun and finished with five RBI as Charleston Southern won their seventh consecutive game, 14-4, over visiting Fordham on Monday afternoon at Buccaneer Field.
CSU improved to 15-9 on the season with the win and improved to 12-0 at home this season. Fordham falls to 8-8 on the season.
Sophomore Graham Maiden added three hits and two RBI and second baseman Drew Grosse had two RBI as Charleston Southern scored early and often.
Sole's three-run blast, his team-leading sixth of the season, in the first staked CSU to a 4-0 lead. The Bucs posted three more runs in the second and led, 13-1, after four innings.
CSU starter Ian Holmen allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings before leaving after being hit by a line drive. Ryan Sowers came in relief and earned the win, improving to 5-0.
Kevin Adler had three hits for the Rams, who out-hit Charleston Southern, 12-9. Fordham heads to Winthrop on Wednesday.
Charleston Southern returns to action on Friday,hosting Birmingham Southern in a Big South Conference three-game series. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday.
