Baseball takes DH from High Point; Sole drives in eight runs

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Senior outfielder Brian Sole picked up six hits, including two homeruns, and drove in eight runs to lead Charleston Southern to a doubleheader sweep of High Point in Big South Conference baseball action on Saturday.

Sole went three-for-five with five RBI in CSU's game two win, a 14-4 victory. CSU belted four homeruns in the game with other blasts coming from Jay Reynolds, Jordan Haar and Keith Stewart. Stewart also homered in game one, an 8-5 CSU victory.

Junior left-hander Josh Ellis earned the game one victory, improving to 6-1 on the season. Evans went 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits and striking out six. Sophomore outfielder Justin Fyle added three hits in game one as CSU built a 7-0 lead into the seventh inning.

Senior left-hander Brad Bissell improved to 3-4 with the game two victory. Bissell allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings as the Buccaneers put the game away with a nine-run sixth inning. Fyle had two hits in game two and Haar picked up two RBI. Second baseman Drew Grosse had four hits in the two games and Charleston Southern ripped off 28 hits in the doubleheader.

The two teams wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
