MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - College of Charleston broke open a close game with a four-run fifth inning and cruised to a 9-3 win over Charleston Southern at Patriots Point on Tuesday night. College of Charleston, ranked 19th nationally, improves to 27-5 on the season while the Buccaneers drop to 19-16.
CSU starter Bobby Parnell (3-5) took the loss, allowing eight earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of work. CSU managed nine hits, two each by Brad Woods and Keith Stewart. The Buccaneers struck out a season-high 16 times against five Cougar pitchers.
Charleston Southern returns to action on Wednesday at Gardner-Webb before hosting conference foe VMI in a three-game series this weekend. |
