CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Junior left-hander Josh Evans and sophomore designated hitter Justin Fyle were named the second-team of the 2005 Big South Conference all-conference baseball team, announced by the league on Wednesday morning.
Senior infielder Jeff Kolhagen was selected to the conference's All-Academic team for the third consecutive year.
Evans was CSU's top pitcher this season, posting an 8-4 record with a 3.60 earned run average. Evans fanned 83 hitters and walked 36 in 90 innings of work this season with opponents hitting only .249 against him for the season.
Fyle, a redshirt sophomore who also saw time in the outfield, finished with a .323 batting average, ranking second on the team this season. Fyle had 53 hits, including 12 doubles, a triple, a homerun and 19 runs batted in. Fyle also was 10-of-12 in stolen bases.
Charleston Southern finished 24-29 overall this season, posting an 8-16 record in the Big South. The Buccaneers lost eight of their last nine games during the regular season, missing out on this year's Big South Conference tournament.
