CHARLESTON, S.C. - Six members of the 2005 Big South Conference Co-Championship football team at Charleston Southern were selected to the I-AA All Southeast team by Don Hansen's Football Gazette, announced on Tuesday.
Leading the selections was sophomore wide receiver Maurice Price, who was tabbed by the Gazette as the Southeast Receiver of the Year after leading the Big South Conference in receptions and yards this past season. Price caught 72 passes for 1,043 yards and seven touchdowns in only eight games, averaging 130.4 yards per game. He also was named the first-team offense for the Southeast region.
Joining Price as a first-team selection, this on defense, was junior linebacker Jada Ross, who set a CSU single-season record for tackles with 128 total hits.
Named to the second-team offense was senior tackle DeAndre Harrison, while senior defensive back Tavares Shorter was selected to the second-team defense.
Named to the third-team offense were freshman running back Andre Copeland and senior tight end Bryan Meers.
Charleston Southern finished with a 7-4 record in 2005, setting the school record for wins in a season and most consecutive wins (five). The Buccaneers defeated Coastal Carolina, 34-27, in double overtime to claim a share of the Big South title in the final game of the regular season.
