CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern University head football coach Jay Mills has announced the hiring of Marcus Gladden as the school’s new defensive secondary coach and strength and conditioning coordinator. Gladden replaces Darrell Perkins, who was named to the staff at Northern Colorado last week.
Gladden comes to CSU from Tennessee State University where he worked with the defensive secondary last season. He also has coached at Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Northeastern Oklahoma A& M College, and the University of North Carolina.
Gladden is a 2000 graduate of East Carolina University where he excelled in football as a defensive back and in track and field as a sprinter. Gladden is a former two-time All-American in the Indoor 55 and 200 meters and was a two-year performer in the defensive secondary.
