CHARLESTON, S.C. - Tenth-ranked Missouri scored six unearned runs and went on to defeat Charleston Southern, 12-4, in game two of the 2006 Buccaneer Classic at Buccaneer Field on Friday morning.
Missouri improved to 1-1 on the year while Charleston Southern drops to 1-4. All four of CSU's losses have come to teams ranked in the top 10.
Catcher J.C. Field hit a three-run homerun to cap a six-run third inning for the Tigers. All six of the runs were unearned. Third baseman John McKee had two hits and three RBI as well for the Tigers, who tallied 11 hits but committed five errors.
CSU's Wes Brundridge had three hits while Justin Fyle and Anthony Hayes each picked up a pair of safeties.
CSU starter Josh Evans took the loss, allowing eight runs (two earned) in 3 1/3 innings of work. Evans falls to 0-2 on the season. Nathan Culp was the winner for Missouri, allowing four runs (none earned) in six innings of work.
Charleston Southern is scheduled to play East Tennessee State on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The Bucs will also play Washington State on Saturday at 2:30 pm. Related Item: Box Score |
