FAIRCLOTH NAMED COASTAL PLAINS LEAGUE 2ND TEAM ALL-STAR

by CSU Sports Information

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – Charleston Southern senior infielder John Faircloth (Wake Forest, N.C.) was named a Coastal Plains League 2nd Team Postseason All-Star for his performance as a Martinsville Mustang this summer, it was announced by the league office last Wednesday.

Faircloth made the squad as a second baseman after batting .277 with two home runs, 14 doubles, four triples, 27 RBI, and 27 runs scored in 55 games for the Mustangs. He also stole a team-high 11 bases in 16 attempts, and ranked third on the team with a .421 slugging percentage and .375 on-base percentage.

The Mustangs finished the year with a 24-31 mark, but went 15-12 in the second half to capture the West Division Title for that period. Faircloth entered the league off a stellar junior campaign in which he tied for the CSU-team lead with four home runs. He recorded a .287 batting average for the Bucs in 2012, clubbed four doubles and a triple, knocked in 24 runs, scored 26, and utilized his speed to steal four bases.

Faircloth was just one of six CSU players to spend the summer in the Coastal Plains League, and four more competed in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, the Valley League and the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.
