LADY BUCS HOST HIGH POINT AND CAMPBELL IN BIG SOUTH WEEKEND MATCHUPS

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Heading into their final homestretch of the season, the Charleston Southern women’s soccer team remains in the mix in Big South Conference play as the Lady Bucs host High Point Thursday afternoon, while hosting Campbell on Saturday morning at Buccaneer Field for Senior Day festivities.

Charleston Southern (6-8-1, 4-4 BSC) takes on conference leader High Point (7-4-6, 6-0-2 BSC) on Thursday afternoon with kickoff between the Lady Bucs and the Panthers scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Seniors Melissa Adams, Rebecca Hollstegge and Morgann Wood will be recognized during the Senior Day festivities on Saturday morning against Campbell (9-5-1, 4-4 BSC), with kickoff set for 11 a.m. Both matches will be streamed via the Big South Network, while Live Stats will be provided on CSUSports.com.

Junior forward Toni Lashley has taken over the individual scoring lead for the Big South Conference recording her first collegiate hat-trick this past Saturday against UNC Asheville on her way to scoring her career high 11th goal on the season. Lashley scored multiple goals against Liberty, VMI and UNC Asheville and recorded a four-match scoring streak this season as CSU continues to battle for a playoff berth this season.

CSU is currently 4-4 on the season in Big South Conference play, splitting every conference weekend with victories over Gardner-Webb, Liberty, VMI and UNC Asheville, while falling to Winthrop, Longwood, Radford and Presbyterian.

High Point leads the all-time series lead of Charleston Southern as the Panthers hold the 11-6 advantage over the Lady Bucs. However, CSU won the last matchup against HPU at Buccaneer Field defeating the Panthers, 3-2, in 2010.

The Panthers are currently tied for the overall conference lead at 6-0-2 with Radford and are led on the season by junior midfielder Becca Hemby leading the team with eight goals and four assists, while junior Taylor Parker and sophomore Jacky Kessler both have four goals apiece for head coach Marty Beall. Ivy Cocklereece and Jesse May have patrolled the goal for the Panthers allowing 1.35 goals per game between the pipes for the team.

Campbell also leads the all-time series over Charleston Southern with the Fighting Camels holding the 5-1-1 lead over the Lady Bucs. CSU defeated Campbell in their last matchup at Buccaneer Field, defeating the Camels 1-0 behind a goal by Aislinn McIlvenny.

Sophomore Ashley Clark leads Campbell in several statistical categories on the season leading the Big South in total shots, shots per game and game-winning goals and is currently one goal behind Lashley for the Big South Conference goals’ lead. Senior Taylor Brown is also among the team leaders with five goals on the season in pacing head coach Todd Clark’s team’s efforts on the season.
