HIGH POINT, N.C. – Sophomore
Janaia Fargo netted double-digit points for the 11th time in 15 Big South games, while freshman
Skylar Baltezegar joined her in double figures but it was not enough for the Charleston Southern women's basketball team, who dropped a 71-50 decision at High Point Saturday in the second meeting in three days between the two schools.
FARGO LEADS THE WAY
Fargo has become that consistent scorer every team needs and she put her Buccaneers teammates on her back once again, tallying double-digit points for the fourth-straight contest with her 15 points for the second game-in-a-row against the Panthers. She buried three 3-pointers, a third-consecutive game hitting that mark. She added five rebounds, two assists in playing all 40 minutes for the second time in the last-three outings.
BALTEZEGAR POWERS TO BAKER'S DOZEN
Two-time Big South Freshman of the Week
Skylar Baltezegar poured in 13 points after making one-half of her dozen field-goal attempts and 1-of-2 at the charity stripe, her third time in double digits in the last-four contests. Since her return to the lineup 10 days ago, she has averaged 9.0 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as the low-block factor.
GODFREY CRASHES THE BOARDS
Charleston Southern (2-24, 2-13 Big South) senior
Sharita Godfrey entered this two-game stretch against High Point (14-12, 11-4 Big South) with just one double-digit rebound total all season, a career-high 13 against UNC Asheville Jan. 16. After nearly reaching that mark again with 12 in Thursday's first meeting, Godfrey hauled down 10 boards Saturday, all on the defensive glass.
ONE WEEK LEFT
The Buccaneers' regular season has just one week left and it begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday when CSU closes out the Buc Dome slate with a Senior Night affair with North Carolina A&T. Charleston Southern will recognize this year's senior class with a pregame ceremony.
