CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team fell 80-65 to the College of Charleston in the crosstown matchup Friday morning at TD Arena.
Despite the loss, junior Alaina Nettles recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while redshirt junior guard Asha Sra continued her strong start to the season with a career-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The Buccaneers shot 41.4 percent from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers, but couldn't overcome the Cougars' advantage on the glass and in second-chance points.

Turning Point
Charleston Southern hung close through the first half, trailing 42-33 at the break behind hot shooting from Sra and Ellis. However, the Cougars opened the third quarter on a 10-4 run to build a double-digit lead they never relinquished. Grace Ezebilo's work on the glass and Taryn Barbot's outside shooting fueled the push, helping CofC extend its lead to as many as 21 midway through the fourth.
