Bucs Fall in Saturday Contest at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Despite a strong opening quarter and early lead, the Charleston Southern women's basketball team was unable to withstand a second and third quarter surge by Wofford, falling 70-42 Saturday afternoon.
 
CSU led 14-13 after the first period, but Wofford took control by outscoring the Buccaneers 20-6 in the second frame and 23-10 in the third, building a margin the Bucs could not erase. The Terriers shot 66.7% in the third period alone to break the game open.

The Terriers held a decisive 32-8 advantage in points in the paint. CSU forced six Wofford turnovers converting them into 8 points. Wofford won the rebounding battle 43-32.
 
Turning Point
After trailing just 33-20 at the half, CSU looked to reset in the third quarter, but Wofford immediately stretched the lead with a 15-4 run in the first five minutes, part of a dominant 23-10 period in which the Terriers shot 10-of-15 from the floor. The run extended Wofford's lead to 26 entering the fourth, where CSU was unable to close the gap.
