Bucs Take Down S.C. State on Saturday Behind Strong Singles Play

CHARLESTON – The Buccaneer women's tennis team knocked off South Carolina State on Saturday afternoon by a score of 4-2. The victory moves Charleston Southern to 3-2 on the season to start off their weekend of matches.
 
After dropping the doubles point to start the day, the Bucs were able to regather themselves and respond in a big way in singles play. The Bucs' duo of Emmie Moore and Brenda Yoris claiming the #3 court 6-2, but the Bulldogs prevailed on courts #1 and #2 to claim the first point of the day.
 
In singles, Jaden Davidson opened the scoring for Charleston Southern with a decisive 6-3, 6-0 decision on the #6 court for her first career singles victory. The Bulldogs then rallied to claim the result in the topflight 6-1, 6-1.
 
After this it was all Buccaneers as they went on to claim the next three matches to finish to seal the victory with the other going unfinished. Amila Jusufbegovic won court #4 6-1, 6-2 while Carlé Botha took court #5 7-5, 6-1. Emmie Moore provided the match clinching point winning 6-4, 6-4 on court #2.
 
Charleston Southern will return to their home courts tomorrow to finish out the weekend with a match against Lees-McRae. The first serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center.
