CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern softball announced the hire of Ellie Goins to be an assistant coach for the 2027 season. Goins arrives after spending the past four years playing at NC State and Indiana bringing four years of playing experience at the P4 level.
 
"I could not be more excited to announce Ellie Goins to be our newest assistant coach for Bucs softball," said Head Coach Christi Musser. "She is coming to our program with a wealth of knowledge and a high-level softball background as a former athlete at North Carolina State and Indiana. Ellie is a great fit on the field, but her faith, passion, and enthusiasm to help student athletes will be invaluable to our program. I am excited for the future of Charleston Southern Softball!"
 
Goins will arrive in Charleston after playing and starting in 58 of the Hoosiers' 59 games in 2026 in centerfield and helped lead them to a 43-16 record on the year and a NCAA regional appearance. She batted .308 during the spring to go with an on base percentage of .409 and slugging percentage of .585. She collected 48 RBIs as well as 46 runs scored to go with 23 extra base hits.

During her three years with the Wolfpack, she played 130 games and started in 118. She was named to the ACC All-Academic Team each of her three seasons at the school. She had 23 extra base hits and swiped 21 bases to go with a .985 career fielding percentage.
 
Outside of her playing career, she has spent time working with The Athletic Zone as a skills instructor as well as at Riptide Baseball & Softball Academy as an assistant travel ball coach. She worked with a variety of athletes designing their practice plans, developing game strategies and mentoring athletes to improve individual performance. Additionally, she would adapt her coaching style to meet the developmental needs of each athlete leading one-on-one hitting, fielding and speed lessons tailored to each athlete's area of growth.
 
She graduated from North Carolina State University in December 2025 with her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is originally from Mooresville, North Carolina where she was a two-time All-Conference performer, two-time NCHSAA District 7 All-Region Selection and two-time NCHSAA 4A All-State Selection. Additionally, in 2019, she was the District 7 All-Region Player of the Year, NCHSAA 4A All-State Player of the Year and was a 2019 MaxPreps High School Underclassmen All-American.
