Bucs fall at Radford in 11 innings, 5-4

RADFORD, Va. – Danny Hrbek's one-out single in the 11th inning scored Josh Reavis with the winning run as Radford rallied to top Charleston Southern in extra innings, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon at RU Baseball Stadium.
Radford (35-14, 16-4 Big South) overcame a one-run deficit in the eighth inning to force extra innings and capture the series from the Buccaneers. Hrbek's single off of Bucs' reliever Chayce Hubbard allowed Reavis to race home from second ahead of the throw from the Bucs' Chase Shelton to cap the Highlanders' rally.

The game-winner capped a four-hit day for Hrbek, who was 4-for-6 with an RBI and scored twice. Reliever Ryan Meisinger (W, 4-0) pitched three scoreless innings, including both extra frames to pick up the win. CSU took a 4-3 lead into the eighth, but Radford tied the game on an RBI single by Brad Keen. 

CSU (22-24, 9-11) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Brian Dye and an RBI groundout by Shelton.
Radford cut the lead to 2-1 on a solo home run by Shane Johnsonbaugh off of Bucs' starter Evan Raynor, who allowed three earned runs in seven innings, but did not factor into the decision.

RU's Trevor Riggs gave the Highlanders their first lead in the fourth at 3-2 with a two-run home run.

CSU answered back in the fifth to retake the lead at 4-3. Dye had an RBI groundout and Shelton followed with an infield single to score Nate Blanchard to give the Bucs the lead before Radford late rally.

Four Bucs had a multi-hit games, led by Blanchard and Dye, who extended their hitting streaks. Dye is at 18 games, followed by Blanchard at 17 games for CSU's two longest streaks of the season. Ryan Maksim added a 2-for-4 afternoon and scored a run for CSU.

CSU's Denis Buckley (L, 3-3) took the loss, surrendering a pair of runs in three innings of work.

Sunday's series finale is scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
