Bucs’ Edwards named Coastal Plain League All-Star

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Charleston Southern outfielder Sly Edwards (Miami Lake, Fla.) has been named a Coastal Plain League All-Star and will play for the West in next week's 17th CPL All-Star Game. 

Edwards is batting .393 in 20 games with the Lexington County Blowfish. He has 22 hits in 56 at-bats this season. He has a league-leading .521 on-base percentage, fueled by 11 walks, and is also 6-for-7 in stolen bases. His Blowfish team was 15-13 in the first half of the season and finished fourth in the West Division. 

Edwards, a rising senior at CSU, finished the 2015 season as one of the hottest Bucs in the lineup, batting .433 over the final seven games. He strung together four consecutive multi-hit games after being inserted into the starting lineup in early May. He finished with a .300 batting average in his first season with the Bucs. 

The Coastal Plain League 2015 All-Star Fan Fest and All-Star Game will be hosted by the Florence RedWolves and held July 12-13 at Sparrow Stadium in Florence, S.C. The 2015 Coastal Plain League All-Star Teams were be voted upon by each of the 15 head coaches and two media representatives for each club. The game will be broadcast live on the Time Warner SportsChannel as well as streamed live online at www.coastalplain.com.
