Lake announces 13 signees for 2017 season; Class ranked No. 87 nationally

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Thirteen high school seniors have signed to join the Charleston Southern baseball program for the 2017 baseball season, Buccaneers' head coach Stuart Lake announced on Thursday. After the early signing period, these players form a class that is currently rated as the 87th best signing class in the country by Perfect Game.  

"We are very excited about the group of players that chose to sign with us in the early signing period," said Lake, who enters his eighth season at Charleston Southern. "This is a quality collection of players that has a chance to make a big impact on our team on the mound and at the plate. Our staff worked very hard to put this class together, and I am looking forward to seeing all of our signees play in a Buccaneer uniform in the spring of 2017." 

The 2016 Charleston Southern baseball team will open its season on February 19th at 4pm as they host West Virginia in the first game of a three-game series at CSU Ballpark. Practice for the 2016 season opens in late January.

Ryan Brown—OF - St. James High School - Hagerstown, Md.
- Three-year letter winner at St. James High School in Maryland.
- Batted .479 with 16 extra base hits as a sophomore in 2014 and batted .462 with 18 extra base hits as a junior in 2015.
- Career total of 108 hits, 11 short of the Washington County career record.
- All-MAC Conference honors and All-Herald Mail First Team, All-Washington County honors as a sophomore and junior.
- All-IPSL honors as a junior.
- One of only three juniors selected to represent the West Region of Maryland in the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches Classic.
- 2016 Preseason Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches All-State Team honors
- Played for the Mid-Atlantic Red Sox travel baseball organization.
- Rated as a top 500 prospect in the country by Perfect Game.

- Posted a 1.30 ERA striking out 56 batters in 44 IP as a junior in 2015.
- Posted a 1.56 ERA striking out 40 batters in 32 IP as a sophomore in 2014.

- Played for the Carolina Prospects travel baseball organization.

Nik Constantakos—RHP; Jupiter Christian HS; Jupiter, Fla.
- Three-year varsity letter winner and starter at Jupiter Christian High School in Florida.
- Posted a career ERA of 1.47 in 152 IP, while striking out 208 batters in three years at the varsity level.
- First Team All-County honors as a sophomore and junior.
- All-District Team honors as a junior.
- Earned the 2014 Jupiter Christian "Man of Valor" award for his efforts in a complete game, one hit shutout victory in a quarterfinal district playoff game. 
- Earned the 2015 Jupiter Christian Most Valuable Player Award.

Justin Dahill—INF; St. Petersburg Catholic; St. Petersburg, Fla.
- Three-year varsity letter winner and starter at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in Florida.
- All-District Honors as a sophomore in 2014 and as a junior in 2015.
- Led his district in batting average (.443) and slugging percentage (.544) in 2014.
- Posted a career batting average of .392.
- All-Tournament Team honors at the 2015 Perfect Game 17U BCS Finals Tournament.
- Played for the Chain National travel baseball organization.
- Rated as a top 1,000 prospect in the country and the 15th best first baseman in Florida by Perfect Game.

Parker Futrell—RHP; Hanahan HS; Hanahan, S.C.
- Two-year varsity letterman at Hanahan High School in South Carolina.
- 2-1 with two saves and a 1.28 ERA as a junior in 2015.
- Named Hanahan's Most Valuable Pitcher in 2015.
- Played for the Carolina Prospects travel baseball organization.
- Posted a 8-3 record with an ERA of 1.65 in 17 appearances in the summer and fall of 2015 with the Carolina Prospects.
- All Tournament team honors at the 2015 Perfect Game 17U WWBA National Championship Tournament and at the 2015 Perfect Game WWBA Southeast Qualifier.
- Led the Carolina Prospects to the 2015 17U CABA World Series Championship by pitching 12 scoreless innings and winning 2 games, including the championship game.

 Corey Ireson—RHP; Osceola HS; Seminole, Fla.
- Three-year letter winner at Osceola High School in Florida.
- Led his team to district championships in 2013 and 2014.
- Posted an ERA of 0.65 while striking out almost 8 batters per nine innings and walking only 2 batters per nine innings as a junior in 2015.
- As a member of the Florida Burn summer baseball organization, led his team to a championship in the 2015 Perfect Game WWBA Florida Qualifier Tournament.
- All Tournament Team honors at the 2015 Perfect Game 17U WWBA National Championship Tournament and at the 2015 Perfect Game WWBA Florida Qualifier Tournament. 
- Rated as a top 500 prospect in the country by Perfect Game.
"Corey is another very talented righthander out of the state of Florida. He is extremely competitive on the mound and really attacks hitters. He has an upper 80s fastball, which has a chance to improve a great deal, and he pairs that with a very good breaking ball and changeup. Bishop Jones—RHP; Weddington, N.C.; Charlotte Christian
- Two-year letter winner at Charlotte Christian in North Carolina.
- 6-2 with a 2.45 ERA as a junior in 2015.
- Led Charlotte Christian to back-to-back NCISAA 3A State Championships in 2014 and 2015.
- Played for the SBA Canes travel baseball organization.
"Bishop is a pitcher that has had an outstanding high school career so far winning multiple state championships. It's always good to be able to find players that come from winning high school programs, and Bishop has handled himself well on the mound in a lot of big situations the past few years. "Aaron is a very physical right handed hitter with outstanding raw power. Seth Owens—RHP; North Augusta HS; North Augusta, S.C.
- Two-way player at North Augusta HS in South Carolina.
- Posted a 2.08 ERA in 21 relief innings as a junior in 2015. 
- Played for the Carolina Combat travel baseball organization.
"We saw Seth pitch in camp this summer, and we were immediately intrigued by his deception. Ryan Stoudemire—RHP/1B; Mid Carolina HS; Pomaria, S.C.
- Three-year letter winner and starter at Mid-Carolina High School in South Carolina.
- All State Rookie Team honors as a freshman in 2013.
- Three-time All Region honors.
- All State honors as a freshman in 2015.
- Led Mid-Carolina High School to two region championships.
- As a junior in 2015, posted a 9-0 record with a 1.61 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 56.2 IP while also batting .494 with six homeruns and 49 RBIs. 
- Most Valuable Pitcher in the 2015 American Legion State Tournament.
- Led Chapin-Newberry to the 2015 American Legion World Series Championship.
- Rated as a top 1,000 prospect in the country by Perfect Game.

Danny Vaughan—INF; South Dade HS; Homestead, Fla.
- Four-year letter winner and starter at South Dade High School in Florida.
- Led South Dade HS to a 28-4 record and Florida State Championship as a sophomore in 2014. 
- Batted .380 with two homeruns, seven doubles, and four triples as a junior in 2015.
- As a member of the South Florida Elite summer baseball organization, led his team to a championship in the 2015 Perfect Game 17U BCS Finals Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida.

- Two-time preseason underclassman of the year in South Carolina.
- All-Region honors as a sophomore and junior.
- Led Gilbert HS to a 23-7 record and a AAA Lower State Runner-Up finish in 2015. 
- Posted a batting average of .396 and a slugging percentage of .681 with five homeruns and 38 RBIs as a junior in 2015.
- Silver Slugger Award winner at the Palmetto Games. 
- Played for the Diamond Devils travel baseball organization.
- 2015 CABA World Series All Tournament Team honors.
