LEXINGTON, S.C. – North Greenville scored four third-inning runs and made the early lead stand up in a 6-2 win over Charleston Southern on Tuesday night at Lexington Baseball Stadium.
NGU improves to 35-12 overall, while CSU falls to 15-22.
David Houser's three-run homer was the big blow for the Crusaders. NGU starter Blake Hamilton (W, 5-1) held the Bucs to two runs, one earned, in five innings of work, while two NGU relievers combined for three scoreless innings of work.
CSU scored twice in the third to cut the NGU lead in half. An RBI single by Sly Edwards scored Nate Blanchard. Cole Murphy raced home on a throwing error by catcher David Houser. Houser tried to pick Murphy off at third, but his throw clipped the helmet of a diving Murphy for CSU's first run.
CSU travels to USC Upstate on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
