Charleston, S.C. - After getting ahead early, Charleston Southern (11-21, 3-7) couldn't hold off High Point's (15-14, 7-3) fourth inning rally as the Panthers went on to win the series opener 7-2 on Friday night.
With two outs in the second inning and a runner on third, Ryan Stoudemire came through with a double to bring home a run and give CSU a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers responded in the fourth inning with five runs to take the lead, 5-1. It started with two base hits followed by a RBI ground rule double. A single followed to score a second run. After an error allowed a run home, High Point's Austen Zente homered to drive in two.
After the Panthers plated two in the top of the ninth, Jason Miller hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth. The Bucs couldn't capitalize the momentum and were kept off the board after the home run.
Andrew Gottfried (4-2) got the win for High Point, pitching seven innings and allowing one run on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Tyler Weekley (1-5) took the loss for CSU, working four innings and allowing five runs, two earned, on seven hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.

- Three CSU pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts, giving the staff their 17th double-digit strikeout game of the season.
