
Charleston, S.C. - High Point (16-14, 8-3) used six home runs from four different batters to top Charleston Southern (11-22, 3-8) 9-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Back-to-back home runs in the top of the first set the pace for High Point. They struck again in the sixth with a solo home run and scored five runs, four on homers, in the seventh inning. A home run in the eighth inning added to their lead.
CSU kept up with High Point early in the game. Kyle Vesnesky hit a triple to lead off the bottom of the third inning and later scored on a groundout. Ryan Stoudemire hit a solo home run in the sixth that evened the score at 2-2. The Bucs couldn't respond to the later hitting from the Panthers with just two CSU hits in the final three innings.
Grey Lyttle (2-0) got the win for High Point, pitching four and two thirds scoreless innings with four hits, two walks and six strikeouts.
Eddie Hiott (3-2) took the loss for CSU, working one third of an inning and allowing one run on one hit.
