Radford, VA. - After jumping out to an early lead, Charleston Southern (13-29, 4-14) dropped Game 3 of their series with Radford (17-22, 8-10) by a score of 3-1 on Sunday.
In the fourth inning, Aaron Miller hit a triple with two outs to score Mike Sconzo and give CSU a 1-0 lead. They didn't hold the lead long as the Highlanders hit a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. In that same inning, a bunt single with the bases loaded gave Radford a 2-1 lead. A wild pitch added an insurance run for Radford in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Back in the second, the Bucs thought they had two runs on a double from Jack Delongchamps. Radford appealed and the umpires ruled that he missed first base and was therefore out for the third out of the inning. After a lengthy delay to consult the rulebook, the umpires ruled that the two runs would not count and the game remained scoreless.
Ryan Sande (1-1) got the win for Radford. He worked five innings with four hits, one run, two walks, and two strikeouts.
Cody Maw (2-2) took the loss for CSU, pitching six innings and allowing two runs, on seven hits, two walks, and four strikeouts.
Kyle Palmer (3) picked up the save for Radford, throwing four scoreless innings with one hit and one strikeout.
