AUSTIN, Texas – Less than a week after being named a top-50 senior pitcher, Charleston Southern baseball's Cody Maw was named a Google Cloud 2019 Academic All-American earning second team honors, and fellow senior outfielder Josh Litchfield earned All-District honors.
A southpaw from Summerville, S.C., Maw enjoyed a strong senior season in which he tossed a career-high 84.1 innings across 13 starts with four wins, 64 strikeouts and a 3.74 ERA.
In his final appearance, Maw tossed 7.0 innings allowing just one run and striking out a season-best eight batters leading the Charleston Southern baseball team to a 6-2 win over USC Upstate in the Big South Championships.
Maw is one of just six pitchers across Division I to earn the Academic All-American honors and the lone student-athlete among the Big South. He joins teammate RJ Petit, who earned All-American honors Wednesday morning.
Litchfield was stellar defensively in 2019 with a 1.000 fielding percentage as well as career-high six outfield assists and three double plays.
Also a native of Summerville, S.C., Litchfield racked-up 62 hits – 11 for extra bases, eight steals while driving in 29 and scoring 37 runs. Litchfield also paced the CSU attack with 18 multi-hit performances with five coming as three-hit performances.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® baseball teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed in links provided above and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
