Lindsey and Wilson garner Big South football weekly honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charleston Southern junior punt returner Taz Lindsey and freshman running back Terrence Wilson garnered Big South football weekly honors as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Lindsey earned Special Teams Player of the Week recognition, while Wilson received Freshman of the Week honors following his performance in CSU's win over Mississippi Valley State.

Taz Lindsey kept the momentum going in the second half of the Bucs' 58-7 win over the Delta Devils as the junior running back secured and returned a punt to the house on the Bucs' second possession to give CSU the 24-7 lead.

Lindsey pulled in the punt at the MVSU 45-yard line, immediately made a defender miss, and then juked another defender before settling in behind the convoy down the left sideline to the end zone.

Lindsey finished with two returns for 48 yards and added three carries for 27 yards in the backfield. His touchdown return was the Big South's first punt return score in 2017.

Freshman tailback Terrence Wilson led Charleston Southern's rushing efforts on Saturday as the freshman tailback from Leesville, S.C. found the end zone on both of his touches against Mississippi Valley State.

With CSU holding a narrow 10-7 lead at halftime, Wilson sparked a 35-point third quarter for the Bucs to help put the game away. Wilson weaved his way through traffic before breaking free for a CSU season-high 62-yard touchdown run on the Bucs' opening drive.

His second touch came in the fourth quarter as Wilson out-ran the defense to the right pylon from 44 yards to push the Bucs to the 50-point mark for the second time in 2017.

Wilson's 106 rushing yards was the first 100-yard rushing effort by a CSU player in the 2017 season.
