CHARLESTON, S.C. - Homegrown hero David Kennedy serves as CSU's primary kickoff specialist. Growing up in Summerville and attending Summerville High School just 20 minutes down the road from CSU, Kennedy says being close to home was important to him during the recruitment process. "I had my official visit to CSU on a Friday and a scheduled visit to PC the next day. I ended up canceling the PC visit because I committed to CSU that night."
In 2016, Kennedy led a unit that finished 15th in the NCAA in kickoff return defense at 17.55 yards per return. He finished last season with 62 kickoffs for 3,565 total yards, averaging 57.5 yards per kickoff, and eight touchbacks.
