Bucs sign forward Terence Porter Jr. to National Letter of Intent

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball signed forward Terence Porter Jr. to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Porter, an Atlanta native, will enroll at CSU and join the Bucs for the 2019-20 season.

Porter is a versatile 6-8 forward currently spending a prep year at The Skill Factory, where he is averaging 16 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He graduated from Grayson High School last spring after helping the program reach the 2018 Georgia 7A Final Four. While at Grayson, Porter played alongside current CSU freshman Travis Anderson.

CSU head coach Barclay Radebaugh is looking forward to inserting Porter into the Bucs' talented roster.

"We're really excited to add Terence to our CSU Basketball family," Radebaugh said. "Most importantly, Terence is a man of very high character who will fit in very well with our team. He's having a great year at The Skill Factory and is being very well-coached there by Rob Johnson, so we know he's going to keep getting better."

"Terence fits into our system as well as anybody we saw all summer," Radebaugh continued. "He's 6-8, can play three positions, is extremely athletic, runs and has tremendous length. On his visit, it felt like Terence had been here for a year and he really bonded with our guys. He's just a tremendous fit for us and we're very excited to add a player of his caliber."

Radebaugh also commented on the collective recruiting efforts of the Bucs' staff.

"As usual, during this recruiting period and on the signing date, it reminds me of how hard our assistant coaches work," Radebaugh said. "I'm very appreciative of Rick and Tee and Arlon and Colton and JC. Recruiting is a team effort. Nobody does it by themselves, and I really enjoy how hard everyone works together to evaluate, identify and then recruit the student-athletes that we have."

Porter played some of his best basketball last year during Grayson's state playoff run, averaging 13 points and 11 rebounds. He excelled this past summer on the AAU circuit as well, averaging 15 points and 12 boards per game for the Smyrna Stars.

Coach Radebaugh on Porter: "We're excited to add Terence and look forward to him making a major contribution to our program over the next four years. He's a great fit for us from a skills and character standpoint, and will mesh well with a roster we're really excited about."

Rob Johnson (The Skill Factory head coach) on Porter: "Terence is a versatile combo forward with a high motor and great size at 6'8". He runs the floor, finishes over the rim consistently, rebounds and can score from all three levels."
