He was the 2015-2016 Big South Player of the Year, the 2016 Big South Champion/Medalist and he's currently the highest Golfstat ranked player in CSU history—but senior Austin James says he's far from finished.
"I would love to do whatever I can my senior year to get us our first-ever bid to Nationals," James said.
James has been a driving force behind the success of CSU men's golf team for the last three years, but his golf beginnings go all the way back to his diaper days.
"My family is a big golf family," James said. "My parents, when I was younger, would play golf and push me around the course in a stroller. It built up to where I started to play in the sand, then I would putt a little bit and then it just went from there."
With his sister, Augusta James, now playing on the Symetra Tour, Austin naturally has his sights set on going pro. We took some time to sit down and learn more about the PGA TOUR-hopeful, better known by his teammates as 'Canada'.

The CSU Men's Golf team began their 2016-17 season September 12. Although they haven't had the best start, James says he has confidence in this year's team.
"I think this is the best team that we've had since I've been here," James said. "To have the team we have this year is pretty impressive. We struggled our first two events, but I'm very hopeful we are going to turn it around here soon and make it a really good year."
The CSU Men's Golf team will return to the green on October 10 at the Bayou City Classic at Golfcrest Country Club in Houston, Texas.
