CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern continues its fall campaign this weekend at the Camden Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina at Camden Country Club. The event begins with 36 holes Saturday and concludes with 18 more on Sunday.
CSU is playing its first event in three weeks, and second under Director of Golf Todd Selders. It is the final tune-up for next week's East Bay Classic at Kiawah Island's Turtle Point Golf Club, an event the Bucs won last year to pave the way toward an at-large NCAA Championship bid.
Junior R.J. Keur earned a fifth-place finish at the Golfweek Conference Challenge to pace CSU for the second time in as many events. Keur tallied a final round two-under par 70 to cap a steady run of play in a field featuring top players from programs in power conferences.
Senior Austin James is looking for improved consistency as he heads back to the site of a sixth place finish last October. James was tied for the lead through 17 holes at the Golfweek Conference Challenge but several big numbers took him out of a solid spot in the field. James' effort in Camden last year led CSU to second-place team finish, while South Carolina cruised to the team title.
Junior Art Griffin is coming off his best competitive round as a Buc. The Lafayette College transfer rolled home six birdies in a 11-hole span to punctuate a four-under par 68 at Spirit Hollow Golf Club.
