CAMDEN, S.C. – Charleston Southern sophomore Elliot Gothe finished tied for 17th place to lead the Bucs at the Camden Collegiate. CSU struggled in rainy, difficult conditions in Sunday's final round at Camden Country Club en route to finishing 17th as a team.
Host South Carolina claimed the team title with a 54-hole total of +1 841. James Madison placed second, while USC Aiken overtook Elon for third. George Washington's Logan Lowe fired a final round two-under 68 to come from behind and claim medalist honors in the 90-player field. USC Aiken's August Lindvall finished one back with a three-round tally of -3.
Gothe and Dylan Patscot (T-32nd) paced coach Jason Payne's club on Sunday with final rounds of 76. Gothe carried over an excellent 36-hole stretch on Saturday with a solid 1-over front nine Sunday, highlighted by three birdies. Both Gothe and Patscot sputtered on the back nine, though, going +5 and +6, respectively, to finish at 76 for the day.
CSU will conclude its fall campaign next week when it plays host to the East Bay Deli Kiawah Island Classic. The tournament is scheduled to run from Sunday through Tuesday at Turtle Point Golf Club.
