BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Charleston Southern senior Kaishon Murray finished fifth in the 60-meter dash to lead the way at the Samford Open on Friday and Saturday.
Murray earned a spot in the finals with a time of 6.98 seconds in the prelims, good for eighth in the field of 53 sprinters. He then eclipsed that mark by .06 seconds in the finals for a strong fifth place showing for head coach Roosevelt Lofton's Bucs.
Murray helped the Bucs on Friday night as well, registering a 29th place finish in the 200-meter. Murray ran in 22.39 seconds. Freshman Joshua Paramore and Dequan Campbell ran to 52nd and 59th place finishes in the 200 for CSU.
CSU now has two weeks to prepare for the 2016 Big South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship. The event will be held in Blacksburg, Va. from Feb. 26-27.
