CHARLESTON, S.C. - JP Caglione continued his championship ways this weekend to highlight Charleston Southern's efforts at both the Liberty Elite Invitational and Carolina Challenge on Saturday. The junior thrower dominated the weight throw on his way to winning the crown, while Seth Wolfe was second in the same event to highlight a dominant performance in the Bucs' final tune-up to the 2019 Big South Indoor Championships.

Ryan Spiecha led four Bucs in the men's shot put event in Lynchburg. Spiecha was eighth overall after reaching 15.31m. Seth Wolfe finished four spots back with a toss of 13.86m, while Jerome Rice (12.98m) and Clarence Moss (12.69m) finished 14th and 16th respectively in the event.
JP Caglione continued to showcase his ability in the men's weight throw at Liberty as the junior took home the championship in the event. Caglione reached 17.47m to win the event, holding off Wolfe (16.92m) for the crown. Spiecha was fourth overall with a throw of 16.13m, while Clarence Moss picked up the top-10 finish with a throw of 13.81m.
Justin Green and Vincent Johnson took on the field in the men's 200m dash. Green finished 53rd overall in 22.60, while Johnson was four spots back in 57th after crossing in 22.66.
Josiah Scarlett was CSU's leader in the men's 800m race. The senior crossed the line in 1:58.52 to place 27th in the event.
Timothy Davis took on the deep field in the men's triple jump invitational on Saturday afternoon. The CSU junior hit his top distance of 14.38m on his second attempt to place eighth in the field.
Frankie Thomas wrapped up the Bucs' day at the Carolina Challenge as the junior high jumper cleared 1.98m in the high jump event. His height was good for 10th overall in the field.
Charleston Southern hits the road for the 2019 Big South Indoor Championships hosted in Lynchburg, Va. at the Liberty Indoor Track & Field Complex on February 15-16.
