Wilson leads Bucs at the VertCross Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Jeryk Wilson led the Charleston Southern to a 19th place finish at Friday afternoon's VertCross Invitational hosted by High Point. The Buccaneers finished third among the six Big South Conference teams among the field topping Gardner-Webb, Campbell, and Longwood on the eight-kilometer course.

George Mason won the event (63), followed by Duke (81), East Tennessee State (108), Northern Kentucky (131) and Appalachian State (132). High Point (288) was the Big South's top finisher in the event coming ninth overall in the field. Radford (336) finished two spots behind the Panthers.

Wilson crossed the line 77th overall among the field with a time of 26:36.48 to lead the Bucs in their fourth race of the 2016 season. The Athens, Ga. native finished five spots ahead of fellow freshman Travor Dominy who crossed the line four seconds back with a time of 26:40.42.

Brandon Damon placed 176th in the field with a time of 28:17.34. Keith Terry (29:11.56) and Chris Fludd-Clark (33:35.59) rounded out the Bucs on the course.

Charleston Southern is back in action at the Big South Conference Championships hosted by UNC Asheville on October 28.
