Bucs dominate in taking team title at Charleston Classic; Wilson takes individual top honors

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern put five runners in the top seven, including overall champion Jeryck Wilson, as the Buccaneers took the team title at Saturday morning's Charleston Classic hosted at Johns Island County Park.

Wilson dominated the field with a blistering 5:08.3-mile pace over the eight-kilometer course and finished 47 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, teammate Jaymee Domoney, in taking his first individual title with the Bucs. Wilson crossed the line in 25:32.2 overall.

Domoney continued his strong sophomore campaign in his second race of the year finishing second overall with a time of 26:19.1.

CofC's Declan Hines broke up CSU's dominance over the top five in the race finishing third overall and narrowly edging Trevor Dominy by six seconds. Dominy finished fourth overall with a time of 26:28.8. Matt Inman rounded out the top five with a time of 26:38.7.

Andrew Akright was the fifth CSU athlete to cross the finishing line continuing a strong sophomore year as well. Akright was seventh overall with a time of 27:07.8.

Benjamin Eddy added a 24th place result for the Bucs with a time of 28:04.0, while Joshua Martin (33rd) and Keith Terry (36th) rounded out CSU's athletes in the race.
