FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton overcame two Stephanie Sbardella sacrifice flies as Charleston Southern opened up the 2013 Long Beach State Mayfair Invitational falling to the Titans on Friday evening at Anderson Field, 10-2.

Sbardella drove in Melanie Stickney in the top of the third inning with a bases loaded sacrifice fly ball in the third inning, and followed up with her second RBI in the game in the fifth inning, driving in Trea Steele this time on a drive to centerfield to provide all the scoring for the Bucs on the evening.

Charleston Southern falls to 4-12 overall on the season, while Cal State Fullerton improves to 10-12 with the win.

Jasmine Conley recorded her first double of the season in the game for the Buccaneers, while Steele and Stickney also recorded hits for Charleston Southern.

Lauren Mario paced the Titans offense with two home runs and four RBI in the game, while Melissa Sechrest connected on her fourth home run of the season in the win.

Jennifer Giles (1-10) went the distance on the mound for the Buccaneers, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) in the loss, recording two strikeouts in the game.

Jasmine Antunez (7-7) picked up the win, pitching 3.0 innings while recording six strikeouts. Katey Laban and Desiree Ybarra combined to throw the final three innings in the contest to complete the CSF victory.

The Titans jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first two innings with Ybarra opening the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning, driving in Ashley Carter. Sechrest doubled the lead with a solo home run to open the second frame, while Leesa Harris scored on a wild pitch. Carter drove in Ariel Tsuchiyama with a single up the middle to push the Titans ahead.

The Buccaneers struck back in the top of the third as the Buccaneers loaded the bases with none out as Stickney led off the frame with an infield single. Natalie Yonan followed getting hit by a pitch and Trea Steele reached on a walk, paving way for Sbardella's sacrifice fly, putting Charleston Southern on the scoreboard as Stickney crossed the plate.

Mario added to the Titans lead with two-run shots in both the fourth and sixth innings, driving in Cami Jacob on both home runs, while Rubio and Mertz had RBI singles as the Titans closed out the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Sbardella drove in their final run in the fifth inning when Sbardella followed Steele's lead-off single and Conley's double with her second sacrifice fly.

Charleston Southern continues play in the Long Beach State Mayfair Invitational on Saturday as the Bucs take on UC Santa Barbara at 7:30 p.m. and host Long Beach State at 10 p.m.
