CHARLOTTE, N.C. (BigSouthSports.com) – Charleston Southern Softball freshman Mallory Kasinger was named the Big South Come Ready Nutrition Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Kasinger led the Buccaneers at the plate during CSU's opening week. The freshman recorded 10 RBIs, one double, seven hits and three home runs, including a grand slam in game two of CSU's doubleheader with Savannah State on Thursday. Kasinger started all seven games and finished her collegiate debut week with 23 at bats for a batting average of .304 and slugging percentage of .739. Just 17 years old, Kasinger is the youngest player on the Buccaneers' roster.
CSU continues its 16-game home stand this weekend as they host Virginia, East Tennessee State and UNC Wilmington for the Buccaneer Invitational. CSU will play Virginia on Friday with first pitch set for noon.
