CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern welcomes East Tennessee State, Virginia and UNC Wilmington to the CSU Softball Field this weekend as the Buccaneers continue their 16 game home stand on February 17-19 with the Buccaneer Invitational. The Bucs take on Virginia and East Tennessee State on Friday, East Tennessee State and UNC Wilmington on Saturday, and UNC Wilmington in the final game on Sunday afternoon.

*Charleston Southern opened the 2017 season last week with a combined 12 home runs for the second-most home runs of any team in the nation, topped only by #6 UCLA's 13.
*CSU is ranked 8th in the NCAA with 1.71 home runs per game and leads the Big South.
*Big South Come Ready Freshman of the Week Mallory Kasinger and junior Cheyenne Gandara share the No. 5 NCAA ranking with three home runs apiece. Kasinger leads the conference with 10 RBIs in her collegiate-debut week.
*The Bucs enter this weekend with a 2-5 record, posting wins against Savannah State in their doubleheader season-opener and falling to #14 James Madison, #17 Missori and USC Upstate at home in the Wingate by Wyndham Invitational last week.
Scouting East Tennessee State University...
*East Tennessee State University is off to its best start in program history after going 4-1 last weekend to win the AmericInn Classic championship.
*ETSU defeated N. Carolina A&T and Alabama A&M, while splitting wins with Gardner-Webb.
*Sophomore Tiffany Laughren was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week and junior Madison Ogle earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
*Laughren recorded multiple hits in four of five games last weekend to finish with a 1.000 slugging and .765 on-base percentage. Ogle went 1-0 with two saves in three appearances (one start) and did not allow an earned run in 10.2 innings.
*Virginia opened the 2017 season at the Kajikawa Classic last weekend where they fell to No. 9 Oregon, San Jose State and host Arizona State.
*The Cavaliers defeated Western Michigan in extra innings and added a win against UTEP to end the weekend with an overall record of 2-3.
*Senior McKall Miller leads UVA with a .500 batting average, recording seven hits in 14 at bats, including two home runs and three doubles for a 1.143 slugging percentage.
*The Cavaliers returned 12 letterwinners from last year's squad, including All-ACC selection Allison Davis and VaSID All-State selections Davis and Danni Ingraham.
Scouting UNC Wilmington...
*UNCW begins its 2017 season by participating in this weekend's Buccaneer Invitational.
*The Seahawks posted a 29-21 record last year and just missed earning a spot in the CAA Tournament with an 8-10 league mark.
*UNCW returns 17 letter winners from last year's squad, including Second-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association selections Peyton Jordan and Merritt Wilkinson. Wilkinson was the Seahawks' second-leading hitter with a .299 average while Jordan posted a 14-6 mark in the circle with a 2.09 earned run average and 75 strikeouts.
*Under the leadership of fifth-year head coach Kristy Norton, UNCW welcomes back its entire pitching staff, which combined to record a 2.38 E.R.A. last year with six shutouts.
