CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern boasts sits in the top 35 in a trio of team categories and is ranked in the top 50 in 10 different individual categories according to the latest NCAA statistical rankings as announced on Tuesday morning.
CSU is the only team in the nation sitting in the top 15 in both stolen bases per game and home runs per game, while the Bucs are also among the national leaders in slugging percentage. The Bucs are 14th in stolen bases per game with 2.08, and 15th overall in home runs per game at 1.13. Florida State is the only other team in the country among the top 20 in both categories sitting 13th in home runs (1.14) and 17th in stolen bases (2.06).
The Bucs are also 31st in the NCAA in slugging percentage with 0.466.
Caitlyn Emberson is among the national leaders in hit by pitch for the second time in as many seasons. The junior catcher has been hit 16 times in 2018 to sit ninth in the NCAA with 0.42 hit by pitches per game.
Jade Gandara is individually ranked in home runs per game, home runs, RBI, RBI per game, slugging percentage, and total bases this season. The junior outfielder is 19th in home runs (11), 28th in home runs per game (0.32), 21st in RBI (38), 35th in RBI per game (1.12), 40th in slugging percentage (0.792), and 20th in total bases (84).
Mallory Kasinger is also among the NCAA leaders with nine home runs on the season sitting 44th in the country.
Speedster Meghan Gagliano is 28th in the NCAA in stolen bases per game at 0.66.
Gandara reprises her status among the conference's best in multiple offensive categories with the junior sitting among the top five in multiple categories. The Hemet, Calif. native is listed among the leaders in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, RBI, home runs, and total bases.
Emberson leads the conference in walks (24) and hit by pitches (16), while also sitting among the leaders in on-base percentage (.486), and runs scored (29). Mallory Kasinger is also among the Big South leaders in slugging percentage (.632), RBI (33), and home runs (9).
The dynamic duo on the base paths, Meghan Gagliano and Kendall Anderson, have started to pull away from the pack in stolen bases on the year. Gagliano leads the conference with 21 steals, while Anderson is second with 19 on the season. The Bucs lead the conference by 13 steals on the year with 79.
Arizona Pilgrim is among the conference leaders in strikeouts (68, 4th) and strikeouts looking (22, 4th).
