CHARLESTON, S.C. – As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Charleston Southern 2016-17 Women's Basketball team woke up early to volunteer at the Susan G. Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure on October 15.

The Buccaneers, along with Head Coach Fred Applin, showed their dedication to the community by lending a hand at the event's Kid Race.

"We had an awesome time at the Race for the Cure," Applin said.  "We do this event every year.  The players and staff are always excited about giving back to the community."

Komen Lowcountry's mission is to fund programs that provide breast health services, breast cancer education and outreach in our Lowcountry 17 county service area.  Since 2003, Komen Lowcountry has raised over $7.5 million with over $5.8 million in local programs and $2 million in national research grants.
