CHARLESTON, S.C. – After a stellar performance off the bench in CSU's upset bid of Georgia Sunday, freshman point guard Ahlea Myers was named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office.
Myers, who entered the game off the bench due to foul trouble, made an instant impact scoring 13 first-half points on her way to a career-best 16 while adding five rebounds and four three-point baskets in a near-upset of Georgia.
She paced the squad with those 16 points and four treys as the Bucs hit a season-high 10 triples in the loss. Her first-half efforts earned the second half start for the freshman as she also played a career-best 24 minutes.
Myers' 13 points in the first half matched the most turned in by a Buccaneer in a single half in 2018-19 as fellow guard Rachel Burns had 13 in the second half against Jacksonville.
The Freshman of the Week award is the first conference honor for the Bucs, who have the week off for exams before hosting Erskine Dec. 11 for an Education Day contest.
