PINEHURST, N.C. - Charleston Southern fired a team-319 in the final round of the 2013 Pinehurst Challenge to tie for 12th in the event, which wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bucs tied St. John's with a three-round 938, finishing
two strokes back of Jacksonville and five strokes out of the Top 10
in the 19-team field.
Richmond won the tournament by four strokes over College of Charleston. The Spiders' Caroline Lovette took medalist honors with a 219 for the tournament, winning by two strokes.
Senior Amanda D'Ostroph led the Lady Bucs with a 78 in her final round to finish tied for 27th. She was CSU's top finisher in the event.
Senior Katelyn Bensch tied for 31st with an 83 in her final round. Freshman Casey MacNeil shot an 80 on the final day and finished 61st.
Junior Torey Johnson matched D'Ostroph's 78 in the final round, her lowest round of the event. She finished tied for 72nd.
Freshman Hannah Fairweather closed the tournament with an 85 to slip to 82nd after a strong opening round.
CSU has one tournament remaining to prepare for the Big South Championships. The Lady Bucs will play at the Jacksonville Invitational beginning on Sunday (April 7-9) at Marsh Landing Golf Club.
The Big South Championships are April 15-17 at The Patriot Grand Harbor in Ninety-Six, S.C.
