Shelby Thompson led the Bucs with a top-20 finish at last year's Pinehurst Challenge and is enjoying a terrific start to her senior season. Thompson claimed runner-up honors at the CSU Invitational and followed up with a fourth-place finish in a strong field at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. She is looking to bounce back after an up-and-down showing at the Cougar Classic at nearby Yeamans Hall Club last week.
Emelie Flink and Hayley McNeill powered coach Matt Cram-Smith's club in that event, tying for 70th place in likely the best field the Bucs will play against this year. Flink had a one-over par 73 in Tuesday's final round. McNeill and Milleina Ohara highlighted that round with hole-outs for eagle from the fairway.
CSU has just one more event remaining in the fall following the conclusion of play Tuesday. The fifth and final tournament of the slate is set for Oct. 23 at Palmetto Intercollegiate at Kiawah Island, S.C.'s Turtle Point Golf Club.
