CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charleston Southern junior Hayley McNeill has been named the Big South Conference Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Friday. McNeill broke CSU's 54-hole scoring record to earn a fifth-place finish at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic.
McNeill's play paced coach Matt Cram-Smith's Bucs to a fifth-place showing in a field of 43 teams, the largest in collegiate golf. She finished at four-under 212 (73-69-70) for the tournament. McNeill fired a career-best three-under 69 in the second round, good for the second-lowest 18-hole score of the event.
The Batemans Bay, Australia, native was named Big South Golfer of the Week last year following her individual title at the Bucknell Spring Break Series in Las Vegas. McNeill's teammate, senior Shelby Thompson, was named Big South Golfer of the Week twice during the fall season.
McNeill and CSU are back in action this Monday and Tuesday, March 6-7, at the University of North Florida Collegiate.
