Sells, Frierson selected as Big South Women's Soccer award winners

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( – For the second consecutive year, Anna Sells and Lydia Frierson are representing Charleston Southern women's soccer proudly.  The Big South Conference recognized the two players as the conference office announced the women's soccer postseason awards on Friday morning.

Sells was once again selected to the Big South's All-Conference Second-Team, while Frierson received the honor of being named to the Big South's All-Academic team for back-to-back years.

Sells has earned a spot on the All-Conference Second-Team twice throughout her collegiate career and was named to the Big South Honorable Mention squad in 2014.  The senior forward from Greenville, N.C. led the Buccaneers and was second in the Big South with eight goals scored on the season.  She also finished among the conference leaders in game-winning goals (4) and points (17) in being selected to the Big South Second-Team.

Frierson was once again named to the Big South All-Academic Team, with the junior midfielder playing 17 games and earning 16 starts on the season.  Frierson is tied as the team leader in assists, with three on the season.  She currently has a 3.97 GPA and is majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Theatre and a minor in Health Promotion.  Frierson is also completing an internship with the Sports Information Department.

No. 8 Charleston Southern opens the 2016 Big South Women's Soccer Championship with a quarterfinal matchup at No. 1 High Point on Sunday afternoon at Vert Stadium.  Kickoff between the Bucs and the Panthers is set for 2 p.m. on the Big South Network.
