CHARLESTON, S.C. - After 16 years, Lydia Frierson's last season of playing soccer is coming to a close. "I feel called to coach college soccer. I also have a few offers to be involved in college ministry, but I think they can go hand in hand." The senior captain from Laurel, Maryland is a communication major with an emphasis in theatre.
Frierson finished her junior season tied for the team lead with three assists and was named to the 2016 Big South All-Academic Team. Many know Frierson as the mom of the team, but you could argue the most interesting thing to know about her is something she ate.

When asked what Frierson will take away from playing four years of soccer at Charleston Southern, she leaves us with this. "Everything is about your mentality. If it's a bad practice, enjoy it. If it's a good practice, enjoy it. If the bus breaks down, enjoy it. Enjoy the experience."
Announced yesterday, Frierson was named to the 2017 Big South Soccer All-Academic Team. The Buccaneers start tournament play tonight at Longwood, kickoff at 7 p.m. Live stats are available at csusports.com
