CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern will host 11 matches on the friendly pitch of the CSU Soccer Field this fall as Head Coach Eric Terrill announced the release of the 2019 women's soccer schedule on Tuesday afternoon.
Highlighting the home schedule includes non-conference matches against Wofford, Navy, North Florida, Alabama State, and S.C. State. The 2019 Silver Cup match against College of Charleston will be held at the CSU Soccer Field on September 5. The conference home slate includes matches against Presbyterian, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, USC Upstate, and Radford.
"We have a young team both in age and leadership this coming season," Terrill said. "We wanted to test this group with a tough out-of-conference schedule before we get to what is always competitive conference play. The returners did a great job this spring and we need the freshman to get to that level through the non-conference schedule."
The Buccaneers add another first-time opponent to the schedule in 2019 as CSU makes the trek to Kennesaw State on September 13. CSU will also renew rivalries against Alabama State (last played in 2009) and Navy (last played in 2011), while continuing series against Jacksonville, Wofford, and S.C. State.
CSU opens the 2019 season on the road as the Buccaneers make the trip down to Jacksonville University on August 22. After making the season-opening road trip, the Bucs are at home for four consecutive games opening the homestand against Wofford (Aug. 25). Home games against Navy (Aug. 30) and North Florida (Sept. 1) leave to the annual Silver Cup battle held this season at CSU as the Bucs host College of Charleston on September 5.
The Bucs continue non-conference play on the road traveling to Mercer (Sept. 8) and Kennesaw State (Sept. 13). CSU returns home for a September 15 matchup against Alabama State in their final non-conference tune-up.
Big South play starts on the road this season as the Bucs travel to High Point (Sept. 21). The Bucs return home for the conference home opener on Presbyterian on September 25, before returning to the road at Longwood on September 28.
CSU opens October with back-to-back home games against Winthrop (Oct. 2) and Gardner-Webb (Oct. 5). The Bucs return to the road traveling to Campbell (Oct. 9) and UNC Asheville (Oct. 12).
Three of CSU's final four regular season games are on the friendly pitch starting with USC Upstate on October 16. The Bucs step out of conference play for a home game against S.C. State on October 19, before making their final road trip on October 23 to Hampton.
The 2019 Senior Day for the Bucs is set for Saturday, October 26, hosting Radford with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
