CHARLESTON, S.C. - Head Coach Mike Baker released the 2017 Charleston Southern women's tennis schedule on Monday afternoon as the Buccaneers look to continue their string of success at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex this season.
The Buccaneers are 58-10 over the past seven seasons at home but will be on the road a majority of the 2017 season with 10 of their 16 matches away from CSU.
"I am excited about our schedule this year," Baker said. "We are playing a lot of great teams and are looking forward to the challenge this season."
CSU returns a pair of Big South All-Conference singles players in senior Nicolin Luecke and junior Sophie Cloessner. Luecke, the reigning Big South Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Second Team All-Conference selection, went 11-7 overall in singles play on court no. 1. Cloessner, the Bucs' representative on the All-Conference First Team, went a perfect 9-0 on court no. 2 on her way to a team-best 15-2 overall singles record on the season.
Cooper returns after missing the 2016 season due to injury, while Koussenkova has been a solid contributor in the CSU lineup with a career record of 29-7 record on courts 5 and 6. Koerner went 12-7 overall in singles play last season on courts 4 and 5. Farmer has provided solid depth to the CSU lineup over the past two seasons.
CSU opens the 2017 season on at the Duckworth Winter Classic hosted by Clemson on January 21-21. The Bucs will continue the season-opening road trip at UNC Wilmington (Feb. 4), Savannah State (Feb. 16) and Stetson (Feb. 18).
The Buccaneers open Big South Conference play at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex on February 25 against Campbell. CSU follows up with a home match on March 4 against Gardner-Webb before heading back on the road for a trio of conference matches.
CSU will take on Liberty (March 11), Longwood (March 12) and Radford (March 13) in a three-match in a three days swing through Virginia before returning home on the 16th against Appalachian State.
The Bucs are back on the road on March 18 against UNC Asheville, before settling in for a three-match home stand. CSU hosts Buffalo (March 23), Presbyterian (March 29) and Emory (April 2) to wrap up the Bucs' home schedule.
CSU closes out the regular season on the road with a trio of matches at Winthrop (Apr. 7), Mercer (Apr. 9) and Coastal Carolina (Apr. 12).
The Big South Conference Women's Tennis Tournament runs from April 20-23 in Winston-Salem, N.C. on the campus of Wake Forest University.
