Buccaneers continue conference competition with road matches at UNC Asheville and Radford

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern continues Big South Conference play on the road this weekend as the Buccaneers travel to UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon and Radford on Monday afternoon to continue conference competition in the 2017 season.

The Bucs will take on Asheville on Saturday afternoon with first serve set for 2 p.m. Due to weather concerns on Sunday the Bucs-Highlanders match at the RU Tennis Courts was moved to Monday afternoon with a projected start time of 2 p.m

CSU (7-1, 2-0) has posted seven consecutive victories following their season-opening loss at UNC Wilmington and has dominated at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex this season with a perfect 5-0 record at home. The Bucs topped Savannah State and Stetson on the road and are coming off of an impressive 5-2 win over visiting Appalachian State this past Thursday.

The Bucs topped Campbell in their conference opener at home on February 25, 7-0, and followed that up with a 6-1 win over Gardner-Webb on March 4.

Kimberley Koerner (8-0) and Yana Morar (7-0) both remain undefeated in singles play in the 2017 season as the duo picked up their eighth and seventh wins of the season. The CSU duo is the only two players in the Big South Conference to be without a loss this year.

Sophie Cloessner improved to 6-0 on court no. 2 and picked up her seventh straight win in the 2017 season with the straight sets victory. Cloessner enters the weekend with a conference-best 19-match winning streak in Big South play.

UNC Asheville has been competitive throughout the 2017 season and enter the weekend match with an 8-6 overall record and 3-2 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs had their season-best five match winning streak come to an end this past Thursday at Gardner-Webb. Asheville is 4-4 overall at home this season.

The Bulldogs are paced by Kylee Shipley's perfect 10-0 record on singles court no. 3 in the 2017 season. Hannah Francisco also has a winning record in singles play with a 7-6 mark on court no. 1. The doubles duo of Shipley and Francisco has combined to go 9-4 on the season.

Radford takes on North Carolina A&T in Blacksburg on Saturday afternoon prior to their Monday afternoon match against the Bucs. The Highlanders are 4-8 on the season, but are 0-4 in conference play. Radford enters the weekend on a three-match winning streak with wins over Florida A&M, Western Carolina, and Aquinas (Mich.).

Drousile Dzeubou has posted a winning season on court no. 1 for the Highlanders with a 12-10 overall record on the season, 7-5 on court no. 1.

Charleston Southern returns home to host Buffalo at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex on Thursday, March 23, with first serve set for 2 p.m.
