WTEN Preview: Buccaneers continue Big South road trip at Gardner-Webb and Campbell

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's tennis team is back in action this weekend as the Buccaneers closes out its three-match road trip with matches at Gardner-Webb and Campbell. The Bucs take on the Runnin' Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., and then closes out the trip against the Camels on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Bucs are riding a five-match winning streak and a 3-0 record in Big South play heading into the weekend's two conference matches. CSU is coming off a pair of tough 4-3 wins over UNC Greensboro and Presbyterian to keep the streak alive as CSU boasts a 7-3 overall record on the year.

CSU is 1-1 in 2018 in true road matches this season with the Bucs falling in their road opener at South Carolina on February 24, while topping Presbyterian this past Wednesday afternoon in Clinton, S.C., 4-3.

CSU has had to rely on its experience over the last two wins with their deep lineup providing wins all over the courts against the Spartans and the Blue Hose. The Bucs took two of the three doubles matches and picked up singles wins on courts 2, 3, and 4 in the March 9 win over UNC Greensboro. The follow-up match against the Blue Hose saw the Bucs drop the doubles point, but rally with singles wins on courts 1, 3, 4, and 5 to take the match at PC.

Madalina Man boasts the top individual winning streak heading into this weekend with five consecutive wins on court no. 4. Filippa Ericson has rattled off four consecutive singles wins on court no. 3 to help pace the Bucs' efforts.

Ericson and Sophie Cloessner lead the Bucs with six singles wins apiece on the season. Valeria Koussenkova (5-3) and Man (5-2) also boast winning records in singles play for CSU on the year.

All three doubles tandems boast winning marks for the Bucs in 2018. Cloessner/Man lead the way with a perfect 3-0 mark in Big South play and an 8-2 overall record on court no. 1. Ericson/Koussenkova are 5-4 on court no. 2, while Kimberley Koerner and Yana Morar are 6-4 on court no. 3.

Scouting Gardner-Webb
Gardner-Webb enters the weekend with a 2-8 record on the year and a 0-3 mark in conference play. The Runnin' Bulldogs snapped a six-match losing streak with a 5-2 win over USC Upstate on Thursday afternoon.
