CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Charleston Southern's Madalina Man and Filippa Ericson continued the ITA Carolinas Regional on Friday as the Buccaneers' duo both competed in the singles brackets at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The Buccaneers took on the opposition on the second day of the four-day event with Ericson making her singles debut in the Division I bracket.
The CSU senior fell to Appalachian State's Katherine Earnhardt in her opening match in the round of 64, 7-5, 6-2. She bounced back topping UNC Wilmington's Sabrina Barisano in the consolation round of 32s in a three-set match.
Ericson won the first set, 7-5, but Barisano followed up with a 6-0 second set win to even the match. The Stockholm, Sweden native rallied back with a 6-2 win to capture the third frame and advance in the consolation bracket.
Madalina Man continued her dominance in the women's B Singles bracket. The CSU sophomore topped Gardner-Webb's Valentine Limauge in the 16s round in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
She followed up with a three-set win over Elon's Sofia Edo to advance to Saturday's semifinal round. Man rallied back after dropping a 4-6 decision in the opening set. She took the final two frames, 6-2, 6-0, to advance into the semifinals.
Ericson is scheduled to take on North Carolina's Sophia Patel Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the Division I Consolation bracket. Man continues the semifinals of the B Singles bracket against Furman's Mary Hunter Hyche set to start at 11 a.m.
